Harris, Tom; Harris, Christie (1972). Mule lib. Toronto, McClelland and Stewart. 79 Seiten. ISBN 978-0771040122
Tom Harris and his wife, wellknown author Christie Harris, have combined talents to produce this unique reminiscence of one man‘ s-and one mule’s-experiences during World War I. Like all good stories of its kind, this one is a gentle mix of the humour, sadness and friendships of which such memories are made. Illustrated by Toronto artist Franklin Arbuckle, Mule Lib offers smiles and laughter, as well as a touching tribute to the role of animals in man-made wars. Tom Harris was born in England but has lived in Canada for over forty years. His memories of World War I and of the big gray mule who shared his adventures are very real. At the age of sixteen, being „especially tired of mathematics;‘ he joined the Royal Field Artillery, serving in France to the end of the War, and later in Turkey until 1921. In Canada, he was a member of the R.C.M.P. for five years and with Canadian immigration for thirty years. From 1940 to 1960 he served with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Westminster Regiment (Reserve Force). Christie Harris has published a great many books, most recently Secret in the Stlalakum Wild (M&S 1972). Her twelfth book will appear in Spring 1973. In addition she has written for several newspapers, done hundreds of radio broadcasts for the CBC, and spoken to women’s organizations across the country. Tom and Christie Harris make their home in Vancouver.
